BVU partners with nearly 100 Northeast Ohio-based businesses each year to make a difference in the community. Setting an admirable example, Medical Mutual has worked with BVU for many years to provide employees with an abundance of impact opportunities. Dionna Gore, a volunteer at this year’s Homeless Stand Down, is just one employee to benefit from these efforts. Check out her story below!

What motivated you to volunteer at today’s event?

I was inspired to volunteer at this year’s Homeless Stand Down event with BVU because I believe in the importance of supporting our community and helping those in need. Homelessness is a significant issue that affects many individuals, and I wanted to contribute my time and effort to make a positive impact. Additionally, BVU has a reputation for organizing impactful and well-coordinated volunteer events, which further motivated me to get involved. Volunteering allows me to give back, connect with others, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those displaced and facing homelessness.

Can you share how BVU has impacted your volunteer journey?

BVU has been instrumental in shaping my volunteer journey by offering a diverse range of impactful opportunities. The partnership with Medical Mutual has particularly influenced my experience, as it has expanded the scope of local community volunteering options. Through joint initiatives, I’ve had the chance to contribute to meaningful projects. This partnership has not only broadened my understanding of community needs, but has also provided me with valuable skills and connections within the nonprofit sector. Overall, BVU’s partnership with Medical Mutual has been a significant factor in enriching my volunteer journey, providing me with meaningful experiences, and connections that have made a positive impact on both me and the communities I serve.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved in the community but doesn’t know where to start?

I’d suggest starting by identifying personal interests or causes you’re passionate about. Then, research local organizations or volunteer platforms like BVU to find opportunities aligned with those interests. Don’t hesitate to reach out, ask questions, and attend volunteer orientations or workshops to learn more and GET INVOLVED!

Thank you for making a difference, Dionna!
