ABOUT THE SESSION
Ohio has a higher than average rate of food insecurity, with over 150,000 people struggling to access adequate food in Cuyahoga County alone. Food insecurity is associated with numerous adverse social and health outcomes and is increasingly considered a critical public health issue, especially for children. From urban farms to food distribution programs, Ohioans are making change one meal at a time.
This May, we will be joined by Sara Continenza, Founder and Executive Director of Food Strong, and Timothy Lewis, Founding Partner and Outreach Director of Rid-All Green Partnership, to learn about food insecurity in our community. Participants will walk away with new understandings of the issue after diving into various myths, perspectives, and key efforts by local nonprofits to create lasting change.
After the webinar, join us for the corresponding BVU Action Day in June at Food Strong. Volunteers will make a difference for community members experiencing food insecurity (more info to come)!
ABOUT THE SERIES
Expand your knowledge, then actively contribute to the betterment of our community. Tune in from the comfort of your home or office for virtual lunch hour sessions featuring nonprofit leaders who will shed light on a specific topic, issue, or cause affecting our community. Then translate insights into action by participating in volunteer opportunities held at local nonprofits, each one actively addressing the issue discussed in the previous month’s webinar. (Volunteer activities are exclusive to BVU Members.) More info HERE.
