FreeLorain County Workshop Series with BVU
BVU and the Community Foundation of Lorain County are collaborating to provide 4 capacity-building workshops for Lorain County nonprofit organizations in 2025. Hosted quarterly on Friday mornings and led by BVU’s expert staff, these FREE in-person sessions will address current governance and management issues facing nonprofit board and staff leaders.
SESSION 1: Role of the Board
An overview of the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members, including best practices for recruiting and engaging a board as well as the board’s important role in fundraising; features an expert panel of board and staff leaders who will share their experiences and challenges.

MAY 16: Succession Planning
This training will explore the critical importance of staff succession planning, human resources elements to consider, and how to approach emergency and long-term succession planning for an organization. The session will also address board succession planning and the important role of cultivating future board leaders.
AUGUST 22: Volunteer Recruitment & Management
This training will examine effective strategies for recruiting and managing volunteers.
OCTOBER 17: Topic To Be Determined… by YOU!
We will use suggestions from participant surveys to identify a relevant topic for the final session of the year!
