Effectively telling your nonprofit story is crucial to mission success, whether you are fundraising, attracting new partners, writing grants, or recruiting volunteers. During this seminar, Emmy-award-winning journalist Sara Shookman will help you take stock of your storytelling assets, learn what resonates with your audience, and distill your brand voice for content of all kinds.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Sara Shookman believes stories make us human. She loves to tell them, and to see how they inspire change. Sara is an Emmy and Murrow award-winning television journalist, speaker and host. She’s now sharing her gift for storytelling through her production agency Storyglow Studio, launched in 2023. She creates written, video and audio content that connects and delivers results on every level. You’ll recognize Sara from WKYC 3 News, where she spent ten years on the air in Northeast Ohio. Sara was part of the main evening anchor team, covering local, national and international news. The Olympics were a favorite assignment.

Multi-platform literate, her work has won eight Emmys, a Murrow and awards from Associated Press and the Cleveland Press Club. She’s also received community recognition for her dedication to nonprofit causes and cancer research. Sara is always seeking out stories that raise the voices of women and advocate for the underdog. Sara grew up in Akron. She’s a proud Manchester High School alumna and lover of the Portage Lakes. Sara graduated summa cum laude from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
